Mama Cash belongs to the feminist movements we support and serve. We recognise that we are in community with others and are accountable to those with whom we share the work of securing social justice. In 2020, our last six-year strategic plan came to an end. As part of wrapping up that plan, we commissioned an End-Term Review (ETR) of the work we had done since 2015. We knew it was important to deliberately reflect and learn from the past six years so that we can continue to improve our work to responsively resource feminist movements worldwide.
The ETR was undertaken by external consultants who conducted interviews with key stakeholders and also reviewed many documents. The report of their findings provides us with a thorough review, seen through external eyes, of our successes over the past years, as well as areas for growth and improvement.
We learned, for example, that grantee-partners supported by Mama Cash confirm that our long-term, flexible funding model frees them to set and follow their own priorities and undertake work they know to be most strategic. The review also surfaced evidence that groups funded by Mama Cash have contributed to making feminist movements more diverse and inclusive, which is an important aim of our focus on funding groups working on under-addressed and contested issues. As an expression of our commitment to accountability and to sharing our learning, we are pleased to share a summary of the End-Term Review. This document shares the report’s executive summary, as well as Mama Cash’s reflections on the ETR’s findings and recommendations.
We invite you to engage with it, and hope it will support your work!
