Supervisory Board member
Khara Jabola-Carolus is the Oceania Representative for Mama Cash Supervisory Board. She is a philanthropy professional and feminist lawyer currently focusing on the impact of wildfires on gender equality in Hawaii. She recently served as the Director of Philanthropy for the Global Center for Gender Equality and the Executive Director of the Hawaii State Commission on the Status of Women, the first statewide government agency for women’s rights and gender justice in the United States and its colonies.
Khara brings extensive experience in leading complex policy campaigns and interagency governmental teams related to sexual rights and reproductive health, gender-based violence, militarism, and immigrant and indigenous rights. She chaired the State of Hawaii’s Home Birth Task Force and State of Hawaii’s Missing and Murdered Native Hawaiian Women and Girls Task Force with the Office of Hawaiian Affairs.
Khara earned her law degree from the University of Hawaii with a specialisation in Native Hawaiian rights, and undergraduate degrees from New York University and Franklin University of Switzerland. She currently also serves on the board of directors for the Hawaii Filipino Lawyers Association and is a proud hula mom.
Khara is Chamorro-Filipina and currently lives in Hawaii.
