The Count Me In! Consortium and Global Alliance for Green and Gender Action have been selected as strategic partners of Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Mama Cash is thrilled to share the news that the Count Me In! Consortium and the Global Alliance for Green and Gender Action will continue to receive funding from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the period of 2021-2025. We are very grateful for the Ministry’s continuing commitment to funding women’s human rights and its acknowledgement of the critical role that feminist movements play in securing social, economic, environmental and political justice for oppressed and marginalised communities around the world.
Mama Cash Executive Director Zohra Moosa: ‘The Dutch government’s support is crucial. With this funding we can continue to support the leadership and work of those feminist activists who are everyday creating more just, inclusive and beautiful societies for all of us.’
Count Me In!
Count Me In! supports and strengthens feminist movements to lobby and advocate for gender equality and women’s human rights, and to make sure their voices are heard and listened to. Not only in their homes, schools, communities, in the media, and in politics, but in every arena where decisions are being made that affect their lives.
Happy Mwende Kinyili, Director of Programmes at Mama Cash: ‘In this time of significant economic hardship due to the COVID-19 crisis, having secure core and long term funding is critical for the movements we support to hold the line against regression on past social and political gains, something that has already begun to happen around the world.’
Count Me In! is a joint initiative led by Mama Cash, together with the Association for Women’s Rights in Development (AWID), CREA, Just Associates (JASS), Urgent Action Fund (UAF), and Urgent Action Fund – Africa (UAF-Africa). The Red Umbrella Fund, a participatory fund led by sex workers, and the Dutch gender lobby platform, WO=MEN, are strategic allies.
Since2016, CMI! has supported 789+ initiatives in 32 countries with €19.5 million euros. Read more about CMI!’s achievements
Global Alliance for Green and Gender Action
Mama Cash is also very happy to be able to continue our work as a part of the Global Alliance for Green and Gender Action (GAGGA) together with Fondo Centroamericano de Mujeres (FCAM), who leads the initiative, and Both Ends. With the renewed funding, GAGGA is entering a new phase in which we can further strengthen the link between the women’s rights and climate justice movements. The bridges we have built between the two have made both movements more effective on issues like resisting extractive projects and women’s access to land and water. Five more years of secured funding will enable us to use the momentum we have generated to lobby and advocate for gender-just climate solutions.
Women, girls, trans and intersex people are leading the struggles that are building a safer and more equal world for everyone. We look forward to continuing to work with the Dutch MFA to ensure these bold and visionary movements have the resources they need to make their aspirations a reality.
