Apply for a grant

ANNOUNCEMENT: Important changes on how to apply to Mama Cash for the first time

Following a review of our grantmaking practices since 2009 - when we started our current Strategic Plan - we decided earlier this year to pilot having a time-limited application window for first-time applicants only. We wanted to respond faster to applicants and be more effective in our decision-making process.

Our first time-limited application window was 6 February – 31 March 2014. Mama Cash is currently not accepting Letters of Interest from first-time applicants.

If you sent us an application by 31 March and we have not yet responded to you, you will hear from us by Saturday 31 May 2014.

We will evaluate this pilot in July and, based on what we learn, announce on our website when we will be open to receive new applications after September 2014.

This change does not affect current grantees wishing to apply for renewal during the course of 2014.

Mama Cash supports ambitious feminist and women's rights organisations and initiatives led by and for women, girls and trans people. Mama Cash also supports women’s funds. For more information about the criteria and priorities for women’s funds, please check our section for women's funds.

Mama Cash is a fund with limited resources. More groups apply for funding than we can fund. In 2013, we received almost 1,100 funding requests of which we could approve 66 in our portfolios of Body, Money and Voice. This means we have to make difficult decisions on which groups we can and cannot support. The Mama Cash selection criteria and priorities, which are listed below, lead our decision-making process.

NMES FI
Mama Cash supports ambitious feminist and women's rights groups and initiatives led by and for women, girls and trans people.
SAN Fiji FI
Mama Cash is helping to build a strong global architecture of women's funds so that local and regional women's movements can grow in scale, influence, and collective power.
