Mama Cash’s vision is that every woman, girl, and trans and intersex person has the power and resources to participate fully and equally in creating a peaceful, just and sustainable world. Our mission is to mobilise resources from individuals and institutions, to make grants to self-led feminist organisations, and to help to build the partnerships and networks needed to do their work of successfully defending and advancing women’s, girls’, and trans and intersex people’s human rights globally.

We support more than 130 organisations, networks and women’s funds annually. Since 1983, Mama Cash has distributed nearly 60 million euro in grants to women’s, girl’s, trans and intersex groups who make their demands loud and clear.

This Terms of Reference are for a consultant who will support the organisation whilst Mama Cash is entering into a trajectory to strengthen the collaboration within the Money team. a The desired outcome of this trajectory is a team environment that feels safe and where all team members have the tools and skills to give and receive useful feedback to each other. Through the trajectory, the team will establish and live shared values, where colleagues work on a basis of accountability, instead of hierarchy.


In order to support the team during the course of the team coaching and afterwards, we are looking for an interim people manager to support the team in the integration of these learnings and the responsibility for the coaching and professional development of the team members.


The individual hired for this position will work closely with the Money team, as well as the co-Executive Director of Mama Cash who is managing the team coaching.

SCOPE OF WORK
We seek a consultant to provide support to the Money team for interim performance management, coaching and personal development from 1st December 2022 till 31st May 2023.

DELIVERABLES
The consultant :

  • Oversees and manages the people in the teams, ensuring that staff has the necessary tools and training to do its work
  • Leads and advises on performance, including via the performance development cycle, as well as advising on related training and development
  • Seeks ways to professionalise and stimulate the collaboration within the Money team
  • Engages in bi-weekly conversations on performance development with members of the Money team
  • Contributes to and supports the team to professionalise and systematise the culture within the team to integrate the shared values
  • Strengthens and ensures a safe work environment and stimulates a learning environment.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Strong commitment to Mama Cash’s vision, mission and values including intersectional feminism, social and environmental justice, and the rights of intersex people, trans people,girls and women.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills in an international setting with proven track record of people and team management and development, and establishing a learning culture within an organisation.
  • Strong communication skills, with both active listening skills and the ability to give feedback that enables the listener to receive and integrate the feedback.
  • Demonstrated track record to motivate and inspire staff to perform at their best.
  • Strong relationship building skills.
  • Team building skills preferred.

PROJECT GOVERNANCE

The successful consultant will be guided by, and report to, the Co-Executive Director Happy Mwende Kinyili.

PROJECT BUDGET
The consultant will work an average of 18 hours per week as required, for a period of 6 months.
The consultant works for a rate of € 80 – max. 120 per hour and will bill only the hours made. (Excl VAT).

REPORTS DUE
1. Bi-weekly update reports
2. Monthly dashboards
3. Final handover and recommendations

PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT
Mama Cash will support performance of the contract through ongoing communication with the successful applicant and assessment of services undertaken. Performance will be assessed against the Key Performance Indicators Here.
