Why Go Wild?
Reason 1: Mama Cash moves women's rights forward.
Because of the global economic crisis, many women's rights organisations are losing funding just at a time when their work is needed most.
Mama Cash is bucking the trend. We are giving 20% more this year, and we are giving in a bold new way.
Mama Cash grantee Zenab in Sudan bought and lent land to local women farmers. The organisation provided drought-resistant seeds and training on how to better grow and market crops. Women farmers simultaneously attended workshops on human rights and the international and national policies protecting them. The women are now not only self-supporting, but have started taking an active part in local politics where they can collectively make a difference for many women going forward.
Mama Cash is supporting Zenab and other organisations working for women's rights to grow stronger, build movements and become more effective and visible.
Mama Cash is proving to the decision-makers at every level that women's rights won collectively, not just humanitarian aid, is the permanent answer to poverty and gender-based violence.

Start your own Go Wild Campaign
Lots of people are starting their own Go Wild campaigns and are donating the proceeds to Mama Cash.
Here are just a few of the Go Wild campaigns that you can start:
- throw a dinner party or a high tea
- get your friends to sponsor you to quit smoking or any other unhealthy habit
- ask your friends to donate your birthday gifts to Campaign 88 Days
- throw a "women go wild" movie night

History of Campaign 88 Days
Campaign 88 Days was created by HER Fund, the Hong Kong based women's fund. They started in December 2003 with the message: ‘A dollar a day. $88 for women's human rights'. In Chinese, 88 is also a lucky number signifying blessings and prosperity.
The HER Fund invited other women's funds world-wide to join the Campaign, or run one themselves. Mama Cash joined the Campaign 88 Days in 2005 for the first time.
